Shaping the City Together

From the streets we travel to the places we call home, planning touches everyday life in the City of West Hollywood.

On Monday, October 12, 2026, the community had an opportunity to connect with the people behind that planning work during Meet the Planners: Coffee and Conversations with Your City Planners at the West Hollywood City Hall Courtyard/Community Plaza.

Held in recognition of National Community Planning Month, the informal open house brought together staff from the City’s Current & Historic Preservation Planning, Long Range Planning, and Transportation & Mobility Divisions. Over coffee and light refreshments, attendees asked questions, learned more about planning processes, and explored ways to participate in planning the City of West Hollywood’s future.

The event gave attendees a closer look at planning work spanning topics including housing, historic preservation, sustainability, development review, and transportation. Together, these distinct efforts help translate community priorities into the policies, projects, and services that shape how people live, work, and move throughout the City.

Events such as Meet the Planners offer an opportunity to strengthen connections between the community and City staff doing the day-to-day work of planning. They also reinforce that thoughtful planning works best when residents are informed, engaged, and part of the conversation.

By creating space for conversation outside a formal meeting or public hearing, Meet the Planners helped make the planning process more approachable and highlighted the important role community participation plays in the City of West Hollywood’s continued evolution.
