The City of West Hollywood hosted a community rally and news conference at West Hollywood Park on the morning of Thursday, February 12, 2026 in support of the San Vicente-Fairfax Route for Metro’s K Line Northern Extension light rail project with community members, advocates, and stakeholders. This is the only route alignment that will serve all the major destinations and job centers in Mid City Los Angeles, West Hollywood, and Hollywood, moving more riders to more places.

City of West Hollywood Mayor John Heilman and members of the West Hollywood City Council joined with regional leaders and provided remarks.

Mayor John Heilman’s opening remarks at the community rally:

Mayor Heilman was joined by Vice Mayor Danny Hang, and members of the West Hollywood City Council; Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath, Third District; City of Los Angeles’ Fifth Council District Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky, City of Culver City Vice Mayor Bryan (“Bubba”) Fish; LAUSD Board Member Nick Melvoin; and representatives from Move LA, Streets For All, local trades and labor unions, and more. Several dozen community members were also in attendance rallying for Metro to Finish the Line! through West Hollywood’s San Vicente-Fairfax Route.

After years of outreach and technical work, the Metro Board of Directors is approaching a key decision on the final route/locally preferred alternative for the project. The San Vicente-Fairfax route will put more than 110,000 jobs within a half mile of new Metro stations with connections to four other rail lines and six of the 10 busiest Metro bus lines. With more riders, more jobs, and more destinations, San Vicente-Fairfax is the best route for the region.
