In recognition of Earth Month in April 2026, Plummer Park became a center for food, education, and sustainability as the Food Day in WeHo Festival brought the community together for a day focused on environmental awareness and healthy living.
Co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood and organized by Plant Based Treaty Los Angeles, the all-ages festival took place on Sunday, April 12, as part of LA Climate Week. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., residents and visitors gathered to explore practical ways to support healthier, more sustainable lifestyles through food, education, and community engagement.
This year’s festival expanded beyond Fiesta Hall into additional areas of Plummer Park, building on the success of last year’s event and creating more space for activities, exhibitors, and public participation. The larger footprint allowed attendees to move easily between programming areas while discovering new vendors, speakers, and experiences throughout the park.
Of course, food remained at the center of the Food Day in WeHo Festival experience, with a wide range of fully plant-based dishes available throughout the day. Vendors offered savory meals, snacks, and desserts that highlighted the connection between sustainability, health, and accessible dining options.
In addition to food offerings, the festival featured educational panels and speaker sessions focused on climate action, sustainable food systems, and individual responsibility in addressing environmental challenges. Experts, advocates, and community leaders shared insights designed to encourage informed discussions and practical action.
Families participated in interactive activities aimed at engaging children through hands-on learning, while vendors and community organizations showcased environmentally conscious products and services that support sustainable living practices.
Many attendees also chose alternative transportation options such as walking, biking, or using public transit, reflecting the festival’s broader message about reducing environmental impact through everyday choices.
The Food Day in WeHo Festival reinforced the City of West Hollywood’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and climate leadership. Through initiatives outlined in the City’s Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, including the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035, the City of West Hollywood continues to prioritize policies and programs that support environmental responsibility, equity, and long-term community well-being.
Plant Based Treaty’s international mission to promote plant-based diets as part of climate solutions was reflected throughout the festival, as well, emphasizing the important role that food systems can play in addressing global environmental challenges.
As the day concluded, the Food Day in WeHo Festival left attendees with new ideas, meaningful conversations, and practical tools for incorporating sustainability into everyday life.
