Access to care, wellness resources, and community connection took center stage as the City of West Hollywood welcomed community members to its free Disability Health & Wellness Fair on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Plummer Park Community Center.
Presented by the City and its Disabilities Advisory Board in partnership with Cedars-Sinai, the fair helped kick off Disabilities Awareness Month with the theme Blooming Without Limits. The event focused on connecting people with disabilities to health resources, preventive care, and information to support health and well-being.
The fair offered a range of free preventive health services, including blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol checks, along with hearing and dental screenings. Flu, COVID-19, RSV, and pneumonia vaccines were also offered. Community members learned about brain health, nutrition, lung cancer, senior health, and emergency preparedness, as well, bringing practical information and access to care together in one welcoming setting.
The event is part of the City’s longstanding commitment to ensuring that people with disabilities can fully participate in community life and have equitable access to City programs, services, facilities, and opportunities.
That commitment extends well beyond Disabilities Awareness Month. Throughout the year, the City’s Disabilities Advisory Board plays an important role, addressing issues that affect people with disabilities, including ADA compliance, transportation, housing, and access to City government and services, and making recommendations to the West Hollywood City Council about programs and policies that support the disability community.
This year also marks the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the landmark civil rights law that expanded access, opportunity, and protections for people with disabilities.
Through programs such as the Disability Health & Wellness Fair and through its year-round work, the City of West Hollywood continues working toward a community where accessibility, inclusion, and full participation are built into everyday life.
