From the Streets of WeHo: Wilbur Finds a Home

It was quite a journey for one little West Hollywood pig in August 2026.

You might be one of the West Hollywood residents who, in the heat of summer, spotted a little pig racing down a residential street – yet still adhering to posted speed limits and yielding to oncoming traffic. Or, more likely, you may be among the many millions of people around the world who watched his adventures unfold on social media.

Either way, the City of West Hollywood reports a pigture perfect twist to the tale that the pig affectionately dubbed Wilbur by his social media fans has traded his brief life on the streets for a new home at a seven-acre animal sanctuary in Malibu, thanks to Grammy-winning songwriter and longtime animal advocate Diane Warren.

Wilbur became an instant social media phenomenon after a West Hollywood resident spotted the surprisingly speedy piglet running through the neighborhood. A TikTok video of the pursuit took off online, with viewers cheering Wilbur on as he dashed along streets, through alleys, and away from would-be rescuers.

Social media did the rest, giving the little black-and-white runaway a name, “Wilbur,” and a rapidly growing fan club.

After Wilbur was safely captured, he was taken to the West Los Angeles Animal Care Center. According to the Los Angeles Times, Wilbur was approximately 11 weeks old and weighed just 17 pounds. No owner came forward.

After seeing Wilbur’s social media videos, Warren enlisted her team at the Diane Warren Foundation to bring him to her Malibu animal sanctuary. His first order of business at the ranch? A salad and a roomy enclosure next to another rescued pig named Wiener. As Wilbur gets bigger, he’ll have room to roam, plenty of animal companions, and gourmet salads featuring lettuce, cucumbers, blueberries, and watermelon.

While Wilbur’s unexpected dash through the neighborhood made for quite the West Hollywood moment, and ultimately a happy ending, it’s also a good reminder of what to do when you spot a lost or loose animal in West Hollywood.
