CicLAvia Rolls Through West Hollywood

Thousands of people traded car horns for bicycle bells this July as CicLAvia turned Santa Monica Boulevard into a car-free playground for biking, dancing, and strolling!

On a beautiful Sunday in July 2026, traffic faded away and the simple joy of getting around under pedal power took center stage.

Under brilliant blue skies and warm sunshine, CicLAvia – Meet the Hollywoods transformed Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood into a vibrant, car-free public space where thousands of people biked, walked, skated, scooted, danced, and strolled.

Despite a last-minute route adjustment following the nearby LADWP water main break, the event never lost momentum.

There was something magical about experiencing a place from the seat of a bicycle, free from the constant hum of traffic. Conversations at stoplights replaced engine noise. Families lingered at hubs along the route. Children confidently rode down streets that are usually filled with cars. For a few hours, everyone caught a glimpse of what communities can feel like when streets are designed for people first.

This marked the third time CicLAvia – Meet the Hollywoods transformed Santa Monica Boulevard, linking West Hollywood with Hollywood to the east. Participants crossed city boundaries almost without noticing. Whether traveling on two wheels or two feet, neighborhoods that can sometimes feel far apart suddenly felt wonderfully connected.

Throughout the day, West Hollywood was in high gear. Bicycle bells rang through the streets, local businesses welcomed a steady stream of visitors, and community organizations and volunteers helped keep the celebration rolling. As the FIFA World Cup Final was shown at the Hollywood Hub and at venues along the route, people gathered to cheer, connect, and enjoy the festive atmosphere together.

CicLAvia continues to remind us that streets can be much more than transportation corridors. They can also become places to gather and build community. Judging by the countless smiles along this year's route, CicLAvia – Meet the Hollywoods was another memorable success. Thank you to everyone who came out, embraced a slower pace, and enjoyed the ride!
