Plummer Park: An Ever-Evolving Story of Community, History, and Imagination

For generations, Plummer Park has been a heartbeat of West Hollywood: a green, historic space where people from every corner of the community have gathered to play, create, celebrate, and connect. During the past year, the community has come together again to reimagine the park’s future.

Through the City of West Hollywood’s ongoing Plummer Park Comprehensive Improvement Plan, residents, artists, parents, older adults, and park-goers have helped shape the next chapter of this beloved public space. The initiative, guided by the City of West Hollywood and its consultant team — including SWA Group, The Robert Group, and ARG — invited community members to share their ideas, priorities, and stories both in person and online through the City’s Engage WeHo platform at go.weho.org/plummerparkplan.

The community engagement process has been dynamic and hands-on. It began with pop-up conversations and topical chats about everything from sports and recreation to arts, culture, and historic preservation, and continued with a series of interactive workshops that turned community feedback into creative possibilities for the park’s design and programming. Each event built on the last, weaving together a vision for Plummer Park that reflects what people love most about it: its sense of history, its welcoming green spaces, and its role as a place for everyone.

As part of the Plummer Park plan, the City and its partners have been exploring how to integrate community feedback into a forward-looking framework that balances preservation and progress. The plan emphasizes accessibility, sustainability, and climate resilience while maintaining the park’s distinctive character. It also highlights ways to protect and celebrate Plummer Park’s historic buildings, native landscaping, and cultural landmarks, ensuring the park continues to thrive as a community gathering place.
