The City of West Hollywood is known for its creativity, energy, and strong sense of community, and keeping that spirit thriving requires a thoughtful and collaborative approach to public safety.
At the center of this public safety effort is the partnership between the City, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood Station, and the City’s 24-hour, year-round unarmed Security Ambassador program, which is managed by Allied Universal Security Services.
The Sheriff’s Department provides sworn law enforcement services, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, handling 9-1-1 calls, and addressing traffic and crime-related concerns throughout the city.
Complementing this work is the West Hollywood Security Ambassador program, which was first established in 2013.
Today, the Security Ambassador program has grown to include ambassadors, team leaders, safety officers, supervisors, and a general manager. In October 2025, Allied Universal Security Services, which has a long history of successfully providing security services in communities across California and throughout the United States, took over management of the Security Ambassador program. Allied Universal provides uniformed bicycle, kiosk, foot-patrol, fixed-post, special event, and transit Security Ambassador services.
The program offers a highly visible uniformed presence at the street level and offers in-person responses around the clock to non-violent calls for service. Security Ambassadors conduct safety escorts for residents, businesses, and visitors, and provide helpful guidance to community members and guests about City information, directions, parking, and more.
Security Ambassadors get to know West Hollywood’s neighborhoods and help address quality-of-life concerns while also adding an extra layer of hospitality for those who live in or visit the community. Security Ambassadors also maintain staffed kiosks throughout the city, including daily operations in commercial districts from late morning to early evening. These kiosks reinforce the program’s focus on visibility, safety, and approachability in the places where people shop, walk, gather, and enjoy recreation.
Security Ambassadors work closely with the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station and support its efforts by providing on-the-ground observations, reporting concerns, and partnering with deputies during emergencies. Together, the Sheriff’s Department and the Security Ambassadors create a coordinated, community-centered model of public safety that evolves with local needs and helps ensure that West Hollywood remains welcoming, vibrant, and secure for everyone.
The City of West Hollywood and Allied Universal have introduced a new 24/7 call/text hotline at (323) 848-6500 and a dedicated information page at www.weho.org/security.
