Wagging tails abounded as City of West Hollywood’s beloved Picasso Pets event made its paw-some return on Saturday, April 4, 2026 to West Hollywood Park!
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the park transformed into a vibrant canvas of furry friends, proud pet parents, and animal lovers alike. In West Hollywood, art isn’t just for galleries … sometimes it barks, purrs, and poses for treats.
The free community event lived up to its name, blending creativity with critters in the most paw-trait-worthy ways. Guests explored a variety of “paws-on” activities, from interactive vendor booths and adoption areas to a pet makeover station that had tails wagging in style. The ever-popular “Ask the Trainer” booth offered helpful tips for humans looking to brush up on their pet parenting skills — because even the best boys and girls can learn a new trick or two.
While the coveted caricature drawing station filled up faster than a dog chasing a squirrel, hopeful attendees lined up for the on-site waitlist, crossing their paws for a chance to be sketched alongside their four-legged muses.
Throughout the event, safety remained fur-st and foremost. Dogs stayed leashed and well-behaved (no ruff-housing, please), while feline attendees arrived in style — sporting carriers, backpacks, strollers, and harnesses that would make any catwalk jealous.
Beyond the fun and festivities, Picasso Pets also reflected something deeper about the community: West Hollywood’s longstanding commitment to animal welfare. The City has been ahead of the pack for decades, establishing itself as a “Cruelty-Free Zone” back in 1989 and championing no-kill policies and pet adoption initiatives ever since.
West Hollywood’s track record reads like a greatest hits album of animal advocacy: becoming the first city in North America to ban cat declawing in 2004, taking a stand against puppy mills in 2009, and banning fur sales in 2013. More recently, the City continued to show its claws (in the best way) by tackling cat overpopulation through humane programs like Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and expanding free services for community cats.
By the time the Picasso Pets event wrapped, West Hollywood Park had hosted not just a gathering, but a celebration of compassion, creativity, and the unbreakable bond between people and their pets.
Picasso Pets shows us that sometimes the most powerful masterpieces come with a wag, a whisker, and a whole lot of heart.
